• • Ceramic disks are extremely hard, smooth, and resistant to abrasion. They are durable, reliable and resistant to corrosion and wear.They can last for decades without significant changes to performance.

• Rubber seals, on the other hand, degrade over time. They swell, shrink, stiffen and bind up causing water softener failure.  They can crack, harden, or lose elasticity due to water pressure, chlorine, heat, and age. Because of this, they require frequent replacement.
